The band, who only performs at charity events, features a classic big band sound, reminiscent of the swing era, with a full complement of instruments including saxophones, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section. They perform a variety of genres including big band swing, vocals in the style of Frank Sinatra, rock and roll and R&B, says the Mdzananda Animal Clinic.

Starting at 15:00 in the Village Restaurant, the concert promises an afternoon of music, jazz and big band classics — all for the love of animals. This event is open to the general public, says the organisation.

Tickets are sold at R150 per person and must be purchased in advance at the booking table in Pinewood Village or via Mdzananda Animal Clinic. All proceeds will be donated directly to Mdzananda Animal Clinic to support their veterinary care, animal rescue services and community education programmes, adds the organisation.

Kelly Arendse, Fundraiser at Mdzananda Animal Clinic, says, "These types of events enable us to continue doing the very important work we do in the community of Khayelitsha. Right now, especially during the colder months, our need is even greater to help sick, injured and homeless pets in Khayelitsha. Community support like this helps us provide warmth, care and medical support to animals and their families who would otherwise go without."

Mdzananda Animal Clinic has been serving the Khayelitsha community for over 25 years, providing essential veterinary services, pet owner education, and support to hundreds of animals every month, concludes the organisation.
