Expressions, a dynamic platform dedicated to nurturing and spotlighting South African creative talent hosted its annual event, "The Escape", in Midrand to celebrate Heritage Day.
"The Escape" is cultural movement where creative talent, aspiring artists and established professionals converge to discover and showcase their extraordinary through music, art, fashion and beauty to celebrate the country's heritage and creative talent, says the platform.
Jazz-soul musician, Spartz, who is known for her fusion of Neo-Soul and indigenous African sounds, performed live. Other performing artists included Ma Nala, Alfa Kat, Warren Matross and Nkosinathi The Vocalist. DJ sets included artists such as Miza, Bospiani, Sponch Makhekhe, DJ Juice, DJ Scelo, Blac Ruby and Ms Williams, says the platform.
The fashion showcase was led by StitchedByInga with the launch of her Frost to Fabulous Spring / Spring collection. The fashion show drew resounding applause as models took to the runway in designs that embodied the brand's signature blend of craftsmanship and modern African flair, adds the platform.
Speaking at the show, Inga Sebata, Founder of StitchedByInga, expressed gratitude to her family and clients for their support throughout her creative and entrepreneurial journey. StitchedByInga's presence reaffirmed the brand's role in pushing boundaries while creating garments that resonate with both individuality and sophistication, says the platform.
Visual artists showcased the diversity and depth of creativity by transforming canvases into living stories, adds the platform.
"Through these curated showcases, we are affirming the arts as a force for community and transformation where art can be seen, felt, and experienced in its many forms.
