The Hyprop Foundation's recent 'Warm Woodrock' drive wrapped up with heartfelt results, raising over R24 000 in support of animal welfare and honouring the memory of Nicole Greenstone in the process.
Held across Hyprop's Gauteng-based shopping centres from July through August, the campaign called on shoppers to contribute blankets, pet food and other essential items for dogs and cats in need, continuing Greenstone's legacy of compassion and care. In total, product donations amounted to R18 863.75, with monetary donations reaching R6 043, including direct contributions through QR codes to Woodrock, says Hyprop Foundation.
"Our hearts are full," says Leonie Prinsloo from the Hyprop Foundation. "This campaign was built on love for Nicole, for animals and for community. Thanks to every person who gave, we've not only honoured Nicole's memory but provided real, tangible support to animals that desperately need it."
According to the foundation, the generosity shown at each centre is reflected in the following totals:
- Woodlands Shopping Centre led the campaign with total contributions valued at R6 106.90, including R3 968.90 in goods and R2 138 in cash.
- The Glen Shopping Centre followed with R6 273, combining R2 368 in goods, R55 in cash and R3 850 via QR code donations.
- Clearwater Mall collected R3 743, including R3 393 in goods and a R350 cash deposit.
- Rosebank Mall donated R2 464.85 in goods.
- Hyde Park Corner contributed R6 669 in product donations.
The campaign also featured live caricature sessions on select weekends, where donors received a personalised sketch of themselves and their pet as a thank-you for their support. These light-hearted moments helped create awareness, engagement and connection throughout the centres, says the foundation.
"Nicole poured her heart into caring for those without a voice. Through Warm Woodrock, her legacy has reached far beyond the workplace. It has sparked a ripple of generosity and empathy across Hyprop's malls," Prinsloo adds.
Woodrock Animal Rescue, based in Gauteng, is one of South Africa's oldest independent pro-life animal shelters. With no government funding, they rely heavily on community support to continue their mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need. The support generated through this campaign will go a long way in helping them continue that work, adds the foundation.
The Hyprop Foundation, the Corporate Social Investment arm of Hyprop Investments, remains committed to projects that uplift communities and support those who need it most.
