Kanana Primary School was selected as the 2025 beneficiary and received a full court resurfacing, new line markings, brand-new netball poles and secure perimeter fencing, as well as new balls and bibs for its young players. The investment provides young players a safe, reliable space to train, learn and grow through sport, says the initiative.

The handover event took place on Wednesday, 26 November and was attended by community leaders, school staff, members of the media and the school's netball teams. As part of the celebration, netball icon and PEP mini netball ambassador Dumisani Chauke, hosted an energetic coaching clinic, offering first-hand guidance, encouragement and inspiration to the young girls, adds the initiative.

Reflecting on the initiative, Chauke says, "I come from a small town of Malamulele, deep in Limpopo, so I know what it means when a community invests in its girls. Sport teaches confidence, leadership and provides a sense of belonging, and every child deserves access to that. Kanana's young players now have a court that matches their potential, and I'm honoured to be part of their journey and story together with PEP."

Kanana Primary School Principal, Mr TG Mabaso, expressed the school's gratitude and the long-term value of the project, "This court is more than an upgrade; it changes what is possible for our learners. It strengthens the school, uplifts the surrounding community and gives our grassroots netball programme a real foundation to grow. We are deeply grateful to PEP mini Netball and Dumisani for seeing value in our children and investing in their future."

The handover reinforces PEP Mini Netball's commitment to empowering girls through accessible sports development and marks another step in expanding safe play spaces across South Africa, concludes the initiative.
