DStv Care More offers DStv subscribers the chance to participate in community development by nominating their favourite community project to receive much needed assistance. Joan Diesel from Sherwood, Port Elizabeth is the DStv subscriber who nominated the centre. According to Diesel, “I am very excited about this because ABCA gives pensioners an opportunity to still give back to the community. Just by sending an sms to the DStv Care More competition SMS line, this was my way of being more to support the cause of this organisation.”

The Algoa Bay Council for the Aged (ABCA) is a non-profit organisation that provides support for elderly in the Port Elizabeth region. ABCA runs various outreach programs that enable and encourage the development and independence of the elderly in the community. The organisation has been in operation for 49 years and caters for 2083 elderly people within the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan area.

As the beneficiary of the Care More competition, ABCA will receive R200 000 from DStv to continue their outstanding work in the community.
Itumeleng Letebele, CSI manager at MultiChoice says, “We appreciate the opportunity to work with our subscribers to make a difference in the lives of those individuals who need a helping hand.”

Another round of DStv Care More will run until Friday, 30 November 2012. Subscribers can once again nominate a community project of their choice to receive an assistance package to the value of R200 000 via SMS, website or using entry forms at MultiChoice customer service branches. Subscribers can SMS the word ‘CARE’ and the name of the community project they wish to nominate to 32512 during this time.
