In 2013, throughout the world people again honoured the Nelson Mandela legacy of improving lives by giving something back to their communities for 67 minutes. Silveray Stationery Company (SSC) shared a memorable, fun day with 1200 children at Denver Primary School in Johannesburg, arranged by The Star newspaper and Neotel.

Since the learners at Denver Primary cannot afford to buy their own stationery, this is one of the major needs at the school and SSC was privileged to donate a significant number of products in honour of Madiba. These included hundreds of glues, scissors, files and various sought-after Croxley products. Croxley, a brand manufactured and distributed by SSC, has been part of South Africa’s history for 120 years so it seemed fitting that the representatives helping to hand-out the company’s donations wore Croxley T-shirts to add a little historic flavour.

The learners at Denver Primary, a fee-free school started just 18 months ago, will surely remember 2013’s Mandela Day, not only for the brightening of its premises by selfless volunteers and donors of paint, but also for SSC’s generous donation of stationery.

From everyone at SSC: “Happy Birthday Tata Madiba, thank you for inspiring us all to share and serve our fellow South Africans, setting an example for the world.”
