Oppikoppi Productions and Old Mutual are bringing the acclaimed singer and songwriter, Eagle-Eye Cherry, to South Africa. Cherry will be performing at the Old Mutual Acoustic Encounters, which forms part of the Grahamstown National Arts Festival from 5 to 7 July, as well as at the Bassline in Newtown, Johannesburg on 3 July. Cherry’s debut album, Desireless, includes the hit single ‘Save Tonight’, and reached platinum status in the United States. He has continued his success with his other albums, Living In The Present Future (2000), Present | Future (2001), Sub Rosa (2003) and his new release Live And Kicking (2007). At a recent BMI awards gala in London, Cherry was presented with a BMI Award in recognition of the worldwide popularity as measured by over 3 million broadcast performances attained by ‘Save Tonight’. Oppikoppi is a fully fledged events company, with a very active booking and touring agency, sponsorship management divisions and a recently initiated Below-the-Line advertising agency: all predominately focused on the live music scene.
