Having decided to use fresh fruit and vegetables as table decorations at the 2013 gala event, this creative idea turned into the concept known today. Receiving ongoing donations nationally and internationally and in addition, guests purchasing ‘veggie boxes’ for R1000, has fed a number of children in need.
In 2013, having raised R125 000, renowned chefs and friends of the prestigious event went out to schools, kindergartens, crèches and other charitable facilities in the Western Cape area. They provided the schools with fresh produce, a demonstration on how to prepare healthier meals and education on nutrition.
