The enthusiasm with which MiWay staff put their support into the Mandela Day campaign not only helped achieve the targeted fund raising amount needed for the project, but also inspired MiWay’s suppliers to get involved in the initiative. Great South Autobody, R&M Paints, and Hyperpaint all contributed towards paint supplies and equipment, while Glasfit sponsored repairs to all broken windows at the school.
MiWay’s head of Marketing and Brand Nthabiseng Moloi said, “Our staff and suppliers have really been our heroes during the planning and implementation of this project. What seemed like a daunting and mammoth task in the beginning, culminated in pride and gratitude in the hearts of everyone involved in the project. We are all proud to have helped create a better learning environment for the teachers and learners of Moletsane High School.”
With the help of Camjor and their team of qualified painters – painting at the school commenced a few days before Mandela Day. MiWay staff, learners, parents and members of the community partook in the painting, cleaning windows and cooking of a hearty meal for everyone involved on the day.
Diane Hin, Glasfit communications manager, said the company was delighted to be a part of MiWay’s Mandela Day initiative. “Replacing the broken windows in the school will make the learning environment more comfortable for learners, especially during the cold winter months,” she adds.
The impact of this Mandela Day initiative will go a long way in adding some welcoming warmth and colour to the students’ learning environment upon their return to school after the winter school holidays.
Moloi said “MiWay believes in serving the communities in which it operates, and our MiHeart Project helps us make every day a Mandela Day. This project proves how by coming together, we can make South Africa a better place for all. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing a smile on someone’s face because of the difference you have made in their life.”
MiWay also made a R10 000 contribution to Phefeni Secondary School, a beneficiary of former Nelson Mandela spokesperson Zelda La Grange’s Beeld Kinderfonds.
