The theme for the 2016 Tourism Month, as driven by South African Tourism, is “Tourism for all, universal accessibility”, and will be included in all marketing efforts for the period. Activations will be done in Makhado, Tzaneen, Modimolle, Polokwane, and Groblersdal.

The event comes on the back of successful National and Provincial tourism month launches, which took place in August at the Porche Villa Hotel in Thohoyandou, Limpopo.

Activations are being done at the following intersections:
  • Vhembe, Makhado: N1 and Songodzi Street
  • Mopani, Tzaneen: R71 and Voortrekker Street
  • Waterberg, Modimolle: Corner Thabo Mbeki Street and Nelson Mandela Street
  • Capricorn, Polokwane: N1 and Munnik Street, N1 main road opposite Muslim School and corner Thabo Mbeki Street and Greef Street
  • Sekhukhune, Groblersdal: Corner Voortrekker Street and Van Riebeeck

“Tourism Month is now in full swing and we urge our people to take advantage of the various special packages the industry has to offer during the month of tourism,” the LTA’s acting CEO, Lulama Tshabalala. “We further urge all our people to take part in all the activities for this month as we celebrate tourism in the province, in particular, and the country at large.”

A media release by the agency also stated: “Find a flower that is indigenous to Limpopo. Upload it on your Facebook or Twitter page, include the #Golimpopo hashtag and you could win 1 of 25 weekend holidays.”

The official tourism month hashtags are #TourismForAll and #Golimpopo.
