Ever since Meta's new social media app Threads became
a thing, everyone and their mother are comparing it to Twitter.
Understandable! So, let's look at how they are different.
media update's Alrika Möller lays out the differences of Twitter and Threads:
Accounts
Twitter: Twitter allows you to download the app straight from the app store and
create an account. You can link two accounts and
toggle between them as needed.
Threads: When downloading
Threads, you log in with your Instagram info and are
directly linked with your Insta.
No Insta, no Threads.
Character limit
Twitter: You only have
280 characters; if you need more, you can start
another tweet.
Threads: All users get 500 characters to type as their hearts desire.
Hashtags
Twitter: Hashtags are the main way Twitter determines
trending content. Users can search using hashtags if they want to see
specific content.
Threads: Threads doesn't use hashtags but allows users to search
keywords and
phrases to find what they are looking for.
Feed
Twitter: The app has
two feeds, namely
For You and
Following.
Threads: On this app, you only have one feed that shows posts and replies of accounts you follow in a random order.
Twitter and Threads have a lot of similarities and differences. What are your thoughts on the two apps? Let us know in the comments section below.
